Drumbeat
Drumbeat is a modified 'Oram 60'. The hulls and bulkhead positions are to original design, however pretty much everything else was redesigned by Brian using Autocad and a Nurbs Modelling 3D software package. We are very happy with the resultant aesthetics and practicalities of the yacht. Drumbeat has been designed as a fast passage making catamaran, set up for short handed cruising. All controls lead to the central raised helm, with the exception of the spinnaker handling, which has a conventional layout.
She was built in Urangan, Hervey Bay, QLD by Wayne Jones and his team at Streamline Catamarans (see links). We have been very happy with the build process, and Wayne & Bridgit have been great to deal with. The 'kit' arrived from ATL Composites on 23rd March 2005 and Drumbeat was launched on 14th February 2006.
She was engineered by ATL Composites, has Ronstan/Frederiksen deck hardware, Harken winches and the mast and rigging is by Allyacht Spars, including three Furlex furlers. She has full Raymarine instrumentation, including an E120 plotter, 2Kw radar, wireless remote control and twin Graphic displays to the helm station.
In the galley we have Miele fridge and freezer, which are 240v run off a 3Kw inverter. The fridge is 250 litre and is rated with 5 stars, whilst the freezer is 150 litres and rated at 4.5 stars. We have a Franke 4 burner cooktop, and Electrolux gas oven.
Drumbeat is wired at 24 volts, but also has 12v supply. We have six 120w solar panels providing shade over the aft deck, as well as a lot of power! This is backed up by a 24v 150amp alternator on each engine. The starboard engine also heats the HWS when not on shore power.
We have a vacuflush toilet with a 100 litre holding tank. The water maker is a Schenker 60 litres/hour unit, feeding the 700 litre water tanks.
